Tamar Slay getting a second chance in the NBA
HUNTINGTON -- Tamar Slay is getting another NBA look.
Slay, a former Marshall University player who spent three seasons in the league, is with the summer league team of the Golden State Warriors.
The 28-year-old from Beckley averaged 7.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in Golden State's first two games of the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. He had 10 points and four steals against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Golden State played Tuesday night against the Charlotte Bobcats. The Warriors play again Friday against the Sacramento Kings and Saturday against the Toronto Raptors.

The Warriors will play four more games at the Rocky Mountain Revue in Salt Lake City that begins Friday.

Slay completed his Marshall career (1998-2002) as the sixth-leading scorer in school history with 1,792 points. He is the all-time leader in three-point goals (251) and three-point attempts (650).
He was an NBA Draft second round selection of the New Jersey Nets and played in 66 games in three seasons with the New Jersey and Charlotte franchises. His NBA career averages are 2.6 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.5 assists.
The 6-foot-8 guard and forward played last season in the Italian League for Pierrel Capo d'Orlando.
