Marshall, WVU to play at Power Park
MORGANTOWN -- Marshall University and West Virginia University baseball teams play the second of a three-game series Tuesday at Hawley Field.
Tuesday's 6 p.m. game was designated "Dollar Night" as tickets, hot dogs, popcorn, and Coca-Colas are $1.
Marshall (11-15) defeated West Virginia (15-13), 8-0, on March 19 at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston. Game three is set for May 14 at Epling Stadium in Beckley
Alex Thackston (0-1, 3.06 ERA) is Marshall's scheduled starting pitcher while Dan Dierdorff (1-3, 4.94) goes for the Mountaineers.
Andrew Dundon leads Marshall with a .333 batting average. Isaac Ballou (.296) has reached base safely in each of the last 18 games. Nate Gomez is hitting .284 with five doubles, one home run and 15 RBIs.
West Virginia is led in hitting by Jacob Rice (.391) with 16 RBIs. Ryan McBroom (.280) leads the Mountaineers in homers (six) and RBIs (24).
