MU roundup: Herd adds member to swimming, diving team

HUNTINGTON -- Marshall University announced the addition of Kelsey Elam of Knoxville, Tenn., to the Thundering Herd women's swimming and diving team.

Elam swam for Harden Valley Academy and the Pilot Aquatic Club. She has top times of 24.82 seconds in the 50 freestyle and 53.94 seconds in the 100 freestyle.

"Just like our other incoming freshman swimmers, she too comes from a well-respected and established club team, Pilot Aquatic Club," Marshall head coach Bill Tramel said. "She is a fantastic student and another team member studying nursing. In addition to her academics, Kelsey's mid-sprint freestyle will help out on relays."

Elam was admitted to the Marshall Honors College and School of Nursing.


BECKLEY -- Marshall University hosts West Virginia University for a Tuesday baseball game at 6 p.m. in Linda K. Epling Stadium.

Marshall (19-31) and WVU (30-22) split the first two meetings of their non-conference season series.

The Thundering Herd won game on (8-0) at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston while the Mountaineers evened the series (10-2) at Hawley Field in Morgantown.
