Sullivan leads Herd past Tennessee tech
CINCINNATI -- Emily Sullivan had 14 kills and four assisted blocks Friday, leading the Marshall volleyball team past Tennessee Tech, 3-0.
Marshall won its Cincinnati Tournament opener, 26-24, 25-16, 25-23, at Fifth Third Bank Arena..
"It's good to be 1-0," said Marshall coach Mitch Jacobs. "We did some good things tonight, especially on offense. An overall hitting percentage of .336 is a pretty good way to start out."
Kristin Marcum had 12 kills and nine digs.
Marshall plays Wright State at 10 a.m. today.
Women's soccer
HUNTINGTON -- Marshall women's soccer plays a road match today against Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md. Kickoff is 1 p.m. at Waldron Family Stadium.
Marshall is 1-0 after a victory last week at St. Bonaventure.
The Thundering Herd is conducting walk-on tryouts at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.
A mandatory meeting for walk-on candidates is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sept. 5 in Corbly Hall Room 104.
