MU's Dyer places 5th in track and field tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Performances by Loren Dyer and Shanice Johnson led the Marshall University women's indoor track and field team Saturday at the Gladstein Invitational.

Dyer placed fifth in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:37.60. Johnson was sixth in the 200 with a time of 25.78 seconds.

Catika Slay finished ninth in the long jump (5.50 meters).

Kearra Haynes, Johnson, Tianya Hankerson and Dyer took ninth place in the 4x400 relay (3:55.07).


BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Marshall posted a 1-2 record in a four-team women's swimming and diving meet at Western Kentucky.

Marshall defeated University of the Cumberlands (211-114) while losing to Western Kentucky (225-100) and Vanderbilt (235-95).

Madison Lawhon was third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:29.26) and Teel Hartmann was third in the 400 individual medley (4:36.59).

Sarah Kay had a fourth-place finish in the 100 butterfly (58.87 seconds).


HUNTINGTON -- Saturday's tennis match between Morehead State and the Marshall University women's team was canceled. Marshall is scheduled to play Radford at 11 a.m. Sunday in the Huntington Tennis Club adjacent to the Huntington Mall.
