Tulsa to host C-USA volleyball tourney
TULSA, Okla. -- Top-seeded Tulsa led by Conference USA Player of the Year Tyler Henderson hosts the conference volleyball tournament beginning Friday in the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
Tulsa also has Jessica Adams, the C-USA Libero of the Year.
The championship tournament returned to the schedule this year after a two-year hiatus and features the top eight regular season finishers. The winner of Sunday's championship match on the CBS Sports Network receives the league's automatic berth in the NCAA tournament.
No. 6 seed Marshall plays No. 8 seed UCF in a Friday, 8 p.m., match. The teams split their regular season matches.
Laura Der from Marshall was named as the C-USA Player of the Week and received a spot on the all-conference first team. Jillian Shemanski from the Thundering Herd made the C-USA All-Freshman Team.
Other C-USA individual recognition went to Setter of the Year Megan Murphy from Rice; Freshman of the Year Sam Skinner from UAB; and Coach of the Year Ken Murphy from UTEP.
