Herd hosting two weekend tourneys

HUNTINGTON -- Marshall Thundering Herd men's soccer and volleyball teams are hosting weekend tournaments.

Marshall men's soccer plays its first regular season matches on Hoops Family Field at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex in the Qdoba Invitational. Marshall opponents are Oakland at 7:30 p.m., Friday, and IPFW at 2:30 p.m., Sunday.

Daily admission is $7, but fans get in free Friday by bringing their tickets from a 5 p.m. volleyball match in Cam Henderson Center.

The Herd is off to an 0-3-1 season start. Oakland from the Horizon League is 0-2-2 while IPFW from the Summit League is 0-3-1.

Marshall is also hosting the Thunder Invitational volleyball tournament Friday and Saturday in Cam Henderson Center.

The Herd (2-7) plays Southern Illinois (3-5) at 5 p.m., Friday. The Herd plays twice Saturday -- noon against Eastern Kentucky (4-3) and 7:30 p.m. against Kent State (1-5).

Daily admission is $7 for adults, $5 for age 17 and younger and $3 for groups of 10 or more.
