December 30, 2012 @ 11:00 PM

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy used a 21-3 run in the first half to go from a 15-11 deficit to a 32-18 lead over Marshall and the Midshipmen remained in control the rest of the way en route to a 67-51 over the Thundering Herd on Sunday at Alumni Hall.

For Navy (7-6), it was the Midshipmen's first home game in more than three weeks. The Midshipmen evened the series with Marshall at 2-2.

For Marshall (6-7), this was its final non-conference game of the season. It's also the first time the Herd's last two in a row under first-year coach Matt Daniel.

"We didn't play very well and they played better than we did," Daniel said. "They are a good team and they've had some success in recent years. They do a good job, have good kids, and execute well. We have to go get a lot better."

Erica Woods and Norrisha Victrum led Marshall with 11 points each. Woods, a forward, the point total is a season high and she helped the effort with a career-best three three-pointers. She led the Herd in rebounds with seven. Victrum made all four of her free throws and had two steals and a team-high four assists.

Audrey Bauer led Navy with 18 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Jade Geif followed with 15 points.

The Midshipmen shot 52.1 percent from the field (25-of-48) and limited Marshall to 35.3 (18-of-51).

Woods and Shay Weaver connected on three-pointers in the first five minutes to help Marshall open the 15-11 lead. That's when Navy responded with the 21-3 run over 10 minutes to go up 32-18 and the hosts stayed on top the rest of the way.

Marshall's off until Jan. 10 when the Herd begins Conference USA play against Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Miss.
