Herd's Roan places fifth in C-USA meet

HOUSTON -- Marshall University diver Lauren Rone placed fifth Friday on the one-meter board at the Conference USA Swimming and Diving Championships.

Rone's finish was worth 14 points for the Thundering Herd, which is in sixth place with Saturday's events still to come.

Kacey Preun was eighth in the 400-meter IM with a time of 4:27.11.

Marshall took sixth place in the 400 medley relay with Kelsey Ferguson, Madison Lawhorn, Arlie Rykosky and Danica Ross posting a time of 3:57.22.


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Marshall women's track and field athletes compete Saturday and Sunday at the Conference USA indoor championships in the Birmingham Crossplex.

Marshall has had one of its best indoor seasons ever with six school records set.

Jasia Richardson and Vanessa Jules are returning all-conference performers. Richardson is the C-USA leader in the triple jump while Jules is ranked second in the pentathlon, third in the high jump and seventh in the 60-meter hurdles.

Crystal Walker and Amber Pierson are ranked fourth and ninth respectively in the long jump.


GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A Friday baseball game between Marshall and North Carolina A&T at War Memorial Stadium was postponed and rescheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday.
