MU's Withrow first team all region
HUNTINGTON -- Marshall University mens soccer goalkeeper Daniel Withrow has been selected for the All-Midwest Region First Team.
The honor comes a day after it was announced Withrow had been invited to the Major League Soccer Player Combine for a shot at playing pro soccer.
Withrow, a senior from Rochester Hills, Mich., was the lone keeper named to the first team squad.
Jamie Ibarra, keeper for SMU, which finished atop Conference USA in the 2012 season, was named to the second team.
Withrow has set several records at Marshall, including most shutouts in a season with 9.5 this year. He also became the first Marshall player to be named co-player of the year in C-USA.
He was named first team all-conference for the 2012 season, the third time in his career to do so.
Withrow recorded 77 saves this year.
