Herd, Cincy tied at Bearcat Invitational golf tournament

HEBRON, Ky. -- Marshall University is tied with host Cincinnati after one round of the Bearcat Invitational men's golf tournament at The Traditions Golf Club.

Belmont leads the 13-team tournament at 1-under-par 287. Corey Richmond is the lead individual after firing a 5-under 67.

Marshall and Cincinnati are tied at 8-over 296.

Logan Lagodich led the Thundering Herd with a 72, Brian Anania shot 73 and Nathan Kerns carded a 74. Jeremy Rogers and Josh Holmes shot 77 and 83 respectively.

The tournament's start was delayed an hour and 40 minutes because of frost. Second-round play began Monday but stopped at 7 p.m. because of darkness. Play resumes Tuesday at 9 a.m. with completion of round two followed by the final round.

WOMEN'S GOLF

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Marshall women's golf is in 17th place after one round of the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina at Greenville Country Club.

Maryland and UNC-Wilmington share the lead at 7-over-par 295. Marshall shot 322.

Juliet Vongphoumy from Maryland holds the individual lead after shooting 4-under 68.

Marshall players are Korakot Simsiriwong (77), Rachel Thompson (79), Samantha DiDomenico (83), Caitlyn Morrone (83) and Maria Battaglia (84).

The two-day, 54-hole event was reduced to 36 holes after second round action was rained out. Final round play begins Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
