July 09, 2008 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- Marshall men's basketball will play a road game at Dayton and has a home game against East Tennessee State in the 2008-09 season according to schedule announcements by those schools.

Marshall visits Dayton for a Tuesday, Dec. 23 contest at UD Arena. The teams last met in the 2000-01 season when the Thundering Herd posted a 67-65 road win.

Dayton was 23-11 last season and advanced to the NIT quarterfinals.

ETSU and Marshall continue a rivalry that began when both schools were Southern Conference members with a Tuesday, Dec. 2 matchup in Cam Henderson Center.

Marshall and the Buccaneers also met last season in Huntington. The Herd won in overtime, 84-83.

The Buccaneers had a 19-13 record last season and were 11-5 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Marshall hasn't announced its schedule, but other known games include an appearance in the Glenn Wilkes Classic, an eight-team event that reportedly also has Bradley, Utah, Mississippi, UW-Green Bay, Morgan State, IUPUI and one other school.

The Glenn Wilkes Classic opens with four teams hosting home games before all eight teams convene at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla., Nov. 21-23.

Ohio University plays Dec. 17 at Marshall, The Athens Post newspaper reported.

UT-Arlington's schedule lists a Dec. 13 game at Cam Henderson Center.

The annual Capital Classic matchup of West Virginia and Marshall in the Charleston Civic Center will be either Jan. 13 or 14, 2009.

Marshall also has return games on the road at Boston University and San Diego and a 16-game lineup against Conference USA opponents.
