HUNTINGTON -- Forward Keona Brooks from West Memphis, Ark., signed to play for the Marshall University women's basketball team.

Brooks joins the Thundering Herd for the 2008-09 season as a junior transfer from Southwest Tennessee Community College.

"She brings a tremendous inside presence to our team," Marshall head coach Royce Chadwick said in a release. "We look forward to having her on the floor this fall."

The 6-0 Brooks averaged 7.1 points and 6.1 rebounds in 18 games last season.

Southwest Tennessee C.C. was No. 4 in the final NJCAA poll with a 25-1 record.

As a freshman she averaged 6.8 points and 4.6 rebounds with 38 blocked shots.

She was named to the Memphis Commercial Appeal newspaper all-metro team as a high school player.
