All-conference soccer selections announced

HUNTINGTON -- Erika Duncan and Molly Snead from the Marshall women's soccer team received All-Conference USA second team recognition.

Sarah Vinson of the Thundering Herd made the all-freshman team.

Duncan, a junior from Easthaven, Scotland, led Marshall with nine goals. Snead is a senior from Cincinnati who had three goals and four assists.

Vinson, a midfielder from CIncinnati, scored three goals and had one assist.

Marshall, 12-7-0 overall, failed to qualify for the C-USA tournament at 5-6-0.

Women's golf

GULF SHORES, Ala. -- Marshall women's golf finished sixth in the 12-team UAB Blazer Fall Beach Blast played at the par-72 Peninsula Golf Club.

Memphis won the 364-hole event with a 595. Marshall shot 615.

Carolyn Cochran from UAB was the individual winner at 72-70 -- 142.

Larie Lynch from Marshall tied for eighth place at 77-73 -- 150, two strokes ahead of teammate Andrea Grier at 74-78 -- 152. Maria Battaglia (78-80 -- 158), Molly Ginger (79-80 -- 159) and Samantha DiDomenico (84-76 -- 160) also played for the Thundering Herd.
