Three MU players on watch list
HUNTINGTON -- Marshall Thundering Herd football players Rakeem Cato, Gator Hoskins and Tommy Shuler were named to the 2013 College Football Performance Offensive Awards Watch List.
Cato is one of 30 quarterbacks in the running for the CFPA Quarterback Trophy. Hoskins is on a list of 36 tight ends and Shuler was one of 31 wide receivers selected. Cato was the 2012 Conference USA Most Valuable Player. Hoskins caught 10 touchdown passes while Shuler had a school-record 110 receptions.
"All three players have tremendous potential for continued success in 2013," said CFPA executive director Brad Smith in a news release.
CFPA recipients (www.collegefootballperformance.com) are selected exclusively based on objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
Two former Marshall players receive CFPA's top honors. Tight end Cody Slate won the CFPA Elite Tight End Trophy in 2009. Vinny Curry won the CFPA Elite Defensive Lineman Trophy in 2011.
