Herd baseball team on road in Carolinas
HUNTINGTON -- Marshall University's baseball team is on the road to play North Carolina A&T and Coastal Carolina.
Marshall (1-1) plays North Carolina A&T (2-1) at 3 p.m., Thursday, at War Memorial Stadium in Greensboro, N.C. The teams are also scheduled for a Saturday doubleheader with the time to be announced.
The Thundering Herd moves on for a Sunday game against Coastal Carolina (2-1) at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark in Myrtle Beach. Game time will be announced. Coastal Carolina is the six-time defending champion of the Big South Conference.
SWIMMING
HOUSTON -- Marshall is in fifth place after day one of the Conference USA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Houston Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium.
Marshall had a fifth-place 200 medley relay finish with Kelsey Ferguson, Madison Lawhorn, Arlie Rykosky and Danica Ross posting a time of 1:46.63.
The Thundering Herd quartet of Kacey Preun, Kaley Gregory, Tiffany Aeling and Sarah Coghlin took sixth in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:35.22.
