Marshall set to host last-place La. Tech
HUNTINGTON -- Louisiana Tech is playing the Marshall Thundering Herd in a weekend baseball series at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston.
Games are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m.
Last-place Louisiana Tech comes in with a 14-27 season record and is 4-17 in C-USA.
Marshall (18-24, 8-12) is 10th in the standings and still in the running to earn one of eight berths in the C-USA tournament, May 21-25 at Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Miss.
The Herd has remaining conference dates with Old Dominion in Charleston (May 9-11) and at Middle Tennessee (May 15-17).
HUNTINGTON -- Marshall softball is clinging to a Conference USA tournament berth entering the final weekend of the regular season.
Marshall has a 23-30 overall record and is eighth in the conference standings at 10-11. Marshall is hosting Louisiana Tech (19-30, 7-13) at Dot Hicks Field for a Saturday doubleheader with games at 1 and 3 p.m. and a Sunday game at noon.
Only eight teams get into the tournament that begins Thursday at Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla.
No. 18 Tulsa has locked up the regular season title while UAB and North Texas have secured tournament berths.
