MU volleyball teams falls at Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Altrese Hawkins had 16 kills Friday night for the Memphis Tigers in a 3-2 volleyball victory over the Marshall Thundering Herd in Elma Roane Fieldhouse.

Maja Kostic and Marija Jovanovic added 15 and 10 kills respectively for Memphis, which won the match, 23-25, 25-20, 18-25, 25-11, 15-12. Aleksandra Petronijevic of the Tigers had 33 defensive digs.

Memphis improved to 10-18 for the season and is 5-8 in Conference USA.

Marshall (16-11, 6-7 C-USA) had its losing streak extended to six matches.

Kills leaders for Marshall were Laura Der (14), Katy Schad (13) and Sacha Byous-McConnell (11).

Dorothy Rahal recored 24 defensive digs for the Herd followed by Schad (14), Andrea Booker (13) and Der (11). Sammie Bane had 41 assists.
