Next for MU women: Improving Mercer

HUNTINGTON - Mercer University's women's basketball team once was known as the Teddy Bears.

Now known, along with all the teams at the Macon, Ga., school, as the Bears, Mercer is anything but soft and cuddly on the basketball court. The Bears, fourth seeded in the East Region, routed No. 5 Troy, 83-68, Thursday night in the Women's Basketball Invitational.

Marshall women face NKU in WBI

HUNTINGTON - The trip from the Marshall University campus to the Northern Kentucky University campus is short.

The trip back will feel a lot shorter if eighth-seeded Marshall defeats top-seeded Norse Thursday in the Women's Basketball Invitational. Tip-off is 7 p.m. Thursday in the Bank of Kentucky Center in Highland Heights, Ky. Marshall student radio station WMUL 88.1-FM has the game and live streaming is available at ESPN3.com.
