Barboursville boys open vs. Alabama in Southeast Regional

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. -- Barboursville's state championship team begins play Friday in the Little League Baseball (age 11-12) Southeast Region Tournament.

The prize awaiting the Southeast Region champion is a Little League World Series berth in Williamsport, Pa.

Players on the Barboursville all-star roster are Austin Petry, Blake Tilley, Brody Aliff, Chad Heiner, Griffin Adkins, Hogan Carter, Ivan Vaughn, Jason Perdue, Jayce Gould, Nic Kuhn, Peyton Weekly and Trey Chapman.

Manager Dell Adkins has Randy Coyle and Doug Perdue as coaches.

Barboursville is in Pool B with Jackson (Ala.); South Nashville (Tenn.); and Tuckahoe American from Henrico, Va. Pool A has Martin County North from Stuart, Fla.; Columbus Northern (Ga.); Myers Park Trinity from Charlotte, N.C.; and Northwood from Taylors, S.C.

Opening ceremonies are Friday morning followed by the first round of pool play. Barboursville plays Jackson (Ala.) at 1 p.m. Barboursville games are being broadcast on WRVC 930-AM and 94.1-FM.

Barboursville's other pool games are Saturday, 10 a.m., against Tuckahoe American (Va.) and Monday, 1 p.m., against South Nashville (Tenn.).

Tuesday consolation games are between the third-place and fourth-place teams from both pools.

Wednesday semifinal games for winners and runners-up out of both pools are set for television on ESPN2.

The championship game Friday, Aug. 9, will be televised on ESPN.
