Sports in brief: Southeastern opens tourney with win
BECKLEY -- Huntington Southeastern opened with a win in the Babe Ruth Baseball 14-year-old state tournament at Harry Lewin Field.
Southeastern squeaked past the Harrison County Nationals, 12-10.
Lucas Doss smacked two home runs out of the park and had three RBIs. Steven Mason was the winning pitcher.
Southeastern will face Elkins at 1 p.m. today.

Rotary fundraiser set for July 26 at Esquire
BARBOURSVILLE -- The Barboursville Rotary Club's major annual fundraiser, the Barboursville Rotary Charity Golf Tournament, is July 26 at Esquire G.C.
The format is a two-player scramble.
Breakfast at 7 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

Bun Run 5K distance run set for July 26
HUNTINGTON -- The Bun Run 5K is July 26 as part of the West Virginia Hot Dog Festival.
Stewarts Original Hot Dogs is sponsoring the 5K distance run. The event also includes the Sitel Walk Your Buns Off charity walk.
Runners can register at www.wvhotdogfestival.com or by calling 696-2943 or 696-4625. Early registration is $15 through Friday. Race-day entry is $20.
Early race packet pick-up is Friday from noon to 6 p.m. at Pullman Square. Packet pick-up on July 26 is from 7 to 7:45 a.m. at Third Avenue and Eighth Street.
Proceeds benefit the Joan C. Edwards Children's Cancer Clinic at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
The race begins at 8 a.m. on a 5K (3.1-mile) course starting and finishing at Big Sandy Superstore Arena.
Awards for the overall top male and female finishers, the top three age-group finishers, wheelchair division and stroller division.
