C-K wins Little League opener

BRIDGEPORT -- Ceredo-Kenova got off to a great start in pool play at the West Virginia 11-12-year-old Little League All-Star State Tournament, defeating Pocahontas County 11-0 on Saturday.

The C-K All-Stars pounded out four home runs in the five-inning contest as Chandler Milum led the way offensively, going 4-for-4 with a three-run home run and four RBI.

C-K faces Princeton today.

Ceredo-Kenova 11, Pocahontas County 0. WP -- Caleb Meade. HR -- Cisco (C-K), Harvey (C-K), Meade (C-K), Milum (C-K). Hitting: Milum 4-4, HR, 4 RBI; Brewer 3-4, RBI.

Babe Ruth

BECKLEY -- Huntington Southeastern blanked Elkins, 10-0, in the 14-year-old West Virginia State Tournament. Matt Napier, Trent Porter, Cole Shull and Lucas Doss hit homer.

Southeastern plays again today at 1:30 p.m.

Softball

SUMMERSVILLE -- Barboursville blanked Mullens, 10-0, pool play in the West Virginia 11-12 Little League All-Star Tournament.

Jenna Marsh, Hannah Morgan and Karlee Alderman combined on a no-hitter.

Barboursville takes on Summersville today at 5 p.m.
