Barboursville beats C-K in state tourney

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. -- Barboursville edged Ceredo-Kenova, 5-4, in Tuesday night's quarterfinal round of the Little League Baseball 11-12 year-old state tournament.

C-K led 4-3 in the sixth inning when Barboursville took the lead on Seth Kinker's two-out home run with Jacob Beahrs on base after a single.

Kinker, the winning pitcher in relief of Beahrs, was also 4-for-4 at the plate. Nick Adams and Beahrs both had one hit.

Caleb Meade homered for the C-K all-stars.

Barboursville is in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. today against Elkins at the Bridgeport field. Elkins won its game with South Berkeley. The championship game will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Clarksburg.

The Barboursville squad moved out of pool play with a 2-1 record. Kinker, Cody Ballengee and Jacob Perry all homered in those games.
