Volleyball team to play host to Tulane

HUNTINGTON -- Marshall University's volleyball team plays host to Tulane on Friday.

The 4 p.m. volleyball match is part of a Cam Henderson Center tripleheader that includes a women's basketball game at noon and a men's basketball game at 7:30 p.m.

Marshall is closing the regular season with a two-match homestand Friday and Sunday against UTEP.

The Thundering Herd, 16-12 season and 6-8 conference, is tied with Memphis and SMU for seventh place in Conference USA and only the top eight will make the tournament.

Marshall outside hitter Laura Der is ranked 24th nationally with 4.32 kills per set and 25th with 4.88 points per set.

Tulane (6-19, 4-10) is led by Cori Martone with 3.46 kills per set.

UTEP (15-11, 9-5) plays Friday at East Carolina.

MEN'S SOCCER

HUNTINGTON -- Zach Hunter from the Marshall men's soccer team was named to the C-USA All-Academic Team.

Hunter, a junior from Marietta, Gal, has a 3.74 GPA as a double major in chemistry and match.

CHAPEL Hill, N.C. -- Marshall closes the fall portion of its schedule Friday through Sunday in the Kitty Harrison Invitational being hosted by the North Carolina Tar Heels at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
