Amayo now eligible for Herd

Dec. 20, 2012 @ 07:03 PM

HUNTINGTON — Kelvin Amayo’s long wait for eligibility is over.

Amayo, a 6-foot-4 freshman guard from Newark, N.J., was added to the Marshall University basketball roster Thursday and joined the Thundering Herd for practice. His first opportunity for competition is Saturday against the University of Kentucky.

He enrolled at Marshall in January 2012 as an academic non-qualifier.

Amayo signed with Towson University near Baltimore in 2011 out of NIA Prep in Riverside, N.J., where he averaged 20 points, six rebounds and five assists as an All-Prep first team selection by the Newark Star-Ledger newspaper.

He left Towson after the NCAA ruled several players ineligible
