ECU at MU basketball Saturday night
HUNTINGTON — Marshall’s Thundering Herd can’t take any lead for granted Saturday in its men’s basketball game with East Carolina.
The Pirates might get down, but they’re never out.
Houston had East Carolina down Wednesday night. Then the Pirates, who missed their first 13 shot attempts from 3-point distance, sank eight of their final 11 to overcome a 10-point deficit and win, 89-78.
Last weekend UCF had a 17-point lead at East Carolina early in the second half. The Pirates went 6-for-10 on 3-point shots down the stretch and pulled out an 88-85 overtime victory on a Corvonn Gaines long jump shot with three seconds to go.
“The way they play, they’re never out of a game,” Marshall head coach Tom Herrion said.
East Carolina, 11-5 overall with four victories against NCAA Division III and NAIA teams and 2-1 in Conference USA, visits Marshall (8-9, 1-1) for a 7 p.m. clash in Cam Henderson Center.
