MU hires diving coach
HUNTINGTON -- Andrew Helmich was hired as the head diving coach of the Marshall University women's swimming and diving program.
Helmich, originally from Augusta, Ga., was the club coach of South Carolina Divers and an assistant coach at the University of South Carolina.
"I look forward to applying my experience as a coach and former diver to another level of competition and can't wait to begin," Helmich said in a news release.
Helmich was a South Carolina Gamecocks team captain and a five-time Southeastern Conference championship meet scorer. He competed in two NCAA Zone Championships.
Marshall head coach Bill Tramel said Thundering Herd divers will benefit from Helmich's experience in the SEC, which is among the best diving conferences in the nation.
