Chesapeake hosting Symmes Valley today
CHESAPEAKE, Ohio -- Chesapeake High School is hosting Symmes Valley High School today for a boys basketball game as part of the Ohio High School Athletic Association's community service initiative, "OHSAA Foundation Service Week."
The 6 p.m. preseason game at Chesapeake doesn't count on team records.
Schools participating in the service week identify a community service project. The Panthers are donating their portion of the proceeds to the Chesapeake Booster Club to be used for student scholarships. Symmes Valley is a participant in "The Angel Tree Project."
Proceeds from the game go directly to the community service projects, less a $250 contribution per school to the OHSAA Foundation, which will be returned to schools in the form of scholarships and leadership conferences for student-athletes in all sports.
More than 270 schools statewide are involved in service week events.
