Huntington's Weber earns Little League promotion
HUNTINGTON -- Matt Weber of Huntington was named as the assistant director of Little League Baseball's Southeastern Region.
The Little League Southeastern Region headquarters is Warner Robins, Ga.
Weber, a Huntington High graduate, served as a Marshall University graduate assistant in the sports information office before joining Little League Baseball.
"During the interview process Matt exhibited the skills needed to be successful in his position working with our volunteers in the Southeastern Region," said Stephen D. Kenner, president and CEO of Little League Baseball and Softball, in a news release.
"The addition of his leadership and communication skills to the regional office should help us expand and improve programs while they look to grow participation in both the baseball and softball programs."
Weber, 28, had a Marshall degree in Parks and Recreation Management and is pursing a master's in Independent Studies.
As part of the academic requirements he completed an internship with the College Baseball World Series in Omaha, Neb.
"Ive been connected to Little League for what seems like my whole life," said Weber, a product of Huntington Little League 3. "My family is built around Little League. My dad (Phil) volunteered as a coach and league president, and served as West Virginia District 1 administrator for many years. My mom was quite involved and my younger sister is currently a Little League coach."
Weber will assist Southeastern Region director Jennifer Colvin.
The Southeastern Region serves Little League programs in West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
