Fairland tops South Point

PROCTORVILLE, Ohio -- Fairland opened the baseball season Monday with a 3-1 victory over South Point in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup.

Josh Ross, Matt Aliff and Kyle Sowards all had two hits for Fairland. Winning pitcher Kyle Raines also knocked in one run.

The Dragons play Tuesday at home against Portsmouth (5 p.m.) while the Pointers play at Ironton.

St. Joe plays Fairview at 5 p.m., Tuesday, in Ashland Central Park.
