Barboursville girls travel to Georgia for softball regionals

HUNTINGTON -- West Virginia champion Barboursville is playing in the Little League Softball age 11-12 Southeastern Regional Tournament at Warner Robins, Ga.

Pool play begins Thursday with Barboursville facing Florida champion New Tampa Little League at 10 a.m.

Barboursville plays Tennessee champion Daniel Boone Little League from Gray, Tenn., at 4 p.m., Friday, and takes on Virginia champion Bridgewater Community Little League at 4 p.m., Saturday.

Warner Robins American Little League, the host, is the defending region and World Series champion.

This year's Southeast Regional winner advances to the World Series in Portland, Ore., from Aug. 12-18.

Barboursville claimed the West Virginia state tournament title with a 12-6 win over Wayne in the finals at Barboursville City Park.
