WINFIELD -- Emily Stewart received high point honors and led the WInfield girls track and field team to the Class AA, Region IV meet championship Friday night.
The Generals won 13 events and scored 266 points in a dominating performance. Poca was the runner-up with 57 points.
Winfield also rolled to the boys team title. The Generals placed first in 11 events while scoring 228 points. Sissonville was second with 91 points.
Rodney Endicott from Wayne won the boys 200 with a time of 22.98 seconds.
The top three in each running and relay event qualify for the state meet Friday and Saturday in Charleston. The next four-fastest times from regionals around the state also advance. The top four in each field event qualify, as well as anyone else meeting minimum standards.
Stewart was first in the 200 (26.43 seconds) and the 400 (59.5).
Megan Truelove for Winfield was a double winner in the 1600 (5:40.34) and 3200 (12:23.51). Winfield hurdler Morganne Bennett won the 100 (15.62) and 300 (47.27) races.
Winfield also had a win by Holly Rooper in the 800 (2:29.41) and a tie for first by Adriann Gaylor and Jessica Schwaner in the pole vault (6-6).
The Generals won all five relay events.
Matthew Burton and Christian Powers for the Winfield boys team were two-event winners.
Burton was first in the 800 (2:09.63) and 1600 (4:51.53) while Powers placed first in the 110 hurdles (14.85) and 300 hurdles (40.13).
Winfield's Charles Schuler took first place in the high jump (6-0) and Seth Kendall was the pole vault winner (12-6).
The Generals showed their depth by winning all five boys relays.
