MU ROUNDUP: Volleyball splits matches at invitational
HUNTINGTON -- The Marshall volleyball team split its two matches Saturday in the Thundering Invitational Tourney.
The Thundering Herd won its afternoon match, 3 sets to 2, over High Point. Kelley Bugler had 16 kills, two digs and three blocks.
Marshall dropped its night match, 3 sets to 2, to Cleveland State. Elizabeth Herman had 14 kills and four blocks.
The Herd is 2-4 on the season. It plays Tuesday at home versus North Carolina A&T.
CROSS COUNTRY: David Caldwell and Leslie Thomas led the Thundering Herd in the Eastern Kentucky/Marshall Relays on Saturday in Richmond, Ky.
Caldwell ran 14:26 over the 3-mile course to place third overall. Teammate Matt Schiffbauer was two seconds back in fourth. EKU beat the Herd, 21-39.
Thomas was clocked in 12:01 on the 2-mile course to wind up sixth overall. The Colonels prevailed, 15-40.
Marshall has two weeks off before it competes in the Old Timers Classic in Bowling Green, Ky. Western Kentucky is host.
