NITRO, W.Va. -- Hurricane halfback Josh Thompson and quarterback Tyler Pate had 100-yard games Friday in a 35-0 whitewash of Nitro.

The Redskins (2-0) held the Wildcats (0-2) to 140 total yards.

Thompson carried 14 times for 105 yards. He scored twice in the first half on runs of 8 and 7 yards. Pate passed for 133 yards and connected with Roger Turner on a 61-yard TD play in the fourth quarter.

Khalil Sturdevant blocked a punt that Jonathan Horn recovered in the end zone for a touchdown.

NIck Rice rushed for 80 yards and a 17-yard score.

WINFIELD 38, RIPLEY 30: Winfield held on after building a 22-point lead.

The Generals (1-1) had a 31-9 advantage after three quarters before Ripley (0-2) came storming back in the fourth period.

Ripley closed to within 31-23 with about six minutes remaining.

Corey Langsdorf's second touchdown for Winfield, a 5-yard run with about three minutes left, .made it 38-23 before David Hicks of Ripley ran for a late score.

David Gaydosz led the Generals with 60 rushing yards on 17 carries. Miller completed 10 of 17 passes for 81 yards.

Athens cut the deficit to five points and Coal Grove's defense made a late stop.

SYMMES VALLEY 43, RIVER VALLEY 0: Evan Herrell from Symmes Valley (2-0 ) rushed for 96 yards and one touchdown. Herrell also caught a 58-yard TD pass from Cody Myers.

Jacob Patterson had a 50-yard interception return for a score.

SOUTH POINT 48, MT. CARMEL 20: Larry Brandon ran for 107 yards and two scores as the Pointers routed their Canadian opponent.

Tevin Mitchell had a rushing touchdown and three a pair of scoring passes. Trey Campbell returned a punt 64 yards for a touchdown.
