Priode shoots 300 to win Welcome Back

September 05, 2010 @ 09:00 PM

HUNTINGTON -- Chris Priode took the advantageous route to victory Sunday in the Welcome Back League Season Handicap Singles Tournament at Colonial Lanes.

Priode shot 930 to lead the qualifying and needed just one win for the title. When that time came, Priode shot 300 against Larry Collier, who had just 138 when he conceded the match.

Priode, who is from Portsmouth, Ohio, earned $500 and automatic entry into the Tournament of Champions in December.

Collier was No. 2 qualifier with 920 followed by Gary Lafon with 913, Lori Henson with 912 and Matt Maynard. He and David Wilson tied for No. 5 with 908 each and Maynard won the roll-off, 246-168.

Maynard beat Henson, 235-213, and Lafon, 201-172. Collier then ousted Maynard, 262-203, to get a shot at Priode.

The next event will be a Mixed Up No-Tap Singles Tournament on Sept. 19. Each lane will have a different pinfall needed for a strike. Entry fee is $25.
