Barboursville, East Huntington await matchups for semifinals

HUNTINGTON -- A pair of Tuesday games at Ceredo-Kenova's Mitch Stadium determine semifinalists for the West Virginia District 1 Little League Baseball (age 11-12) all-star tournament.

Vinson plays C-K at 5:30 p.m. and Milton faces League 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Barboursville and East Huntington won their pools and await Tuesday's winners.

Semifinal games are Wednesday at League 3.

Barboursville claimed the Little League Baseball (age 9-10) district runner-up spot and a State Tournament berth Monday with a 6-1 defeat of Mason County at Vinson.

Softball Junior League (age 12-14) began double-elimination finals play Monday. C-K/Vinson/Lavalette beat Salt Rock, 1-0. The second game between Hite-Saunders/Ona and East Huntington/League 3 was rained out and rescheduled for 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Rotary Park.

The Junior League finals are Wednesday and the runner-up game Friday.

Pool play began Monday in Little League Softball (age 11-12).
