Local runners Hall, Stacy qualify for national meet

HUNTINGTON -- Haley Hall and Taylor Stacy from the Tri-State Athletic Club qualified for the USATF National Jr. Olympic Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The national meet is July 28-Aug. 2 in Greensboro, N.C. The qualifier was last weekend at Laidley Field in Charleston.

Hall qualified with a runner-up finish in the Youth Girls (age 13-14) Pentathlon that includes the 100-meter hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot put and 800-meter run. The Cabell Midland High School freshman is also competing in the 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter hurdles.

She was the 2009 Cabell County middle school champion in the 75-meter hurdles.

Stacy, a Spring Valley High School athlete, qualified by placing third in the Intermediate Boys (age 15-16) 2,000-meter steeplechase run. Stacy will also be running in the 4x800 relay and 1,500-meter run.

He was a national qualifier in 2007 as the Region 5 champion in the Youth Boys 1,500-meter run.
