KENOVA -- The Ceredo-Kenova Crash try for a sweep against the Mountain State Bruins when the two teams meet in a United States Football Alliance game at 5 p.m. today at Ward-Craycraft Stadium.

The Crash (3-5 USFA) had their playoff hopes all but dashed last Saturday when the West Virginia Gladiators posted an 18-12 win at Ward-Craycraft Stadium.

The Gladiators (5-3) were successful with an onside-kick on the opening kickoff and proceeded to drive 48 yards in eight plays. Willie Cunningham scored on a 3-yard run for a 6-0 lead. On their next possession, the Gladiators covered 86 yards with Steve Sampson hitting Terrance Wiltshire on a 9-yard touchdown pass for a 12-0 lead. The visitors made it 18-0 when defensive back Sean Wallace picked off a pass by Crash quarterback Justin Lunsford and returned it 28 yards for a TD.

Right before the half, the Crash marched 61 yards in seven plays with Lunsford capping the drive with a 31-yard TD pass to Sam Huff.

The Crash, who beat Mountain State 23-13 in Summersville, wrapped up the scoring in the fourth period when Lunsford connected with Huff for a 38-yard TD pass with 2:28 left. The Gladiators recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock.
