Pettaway wins decision over Tennessee boxer
HUNTINGTON -- Heavyweight boxer Jason Pettaway of Huntington made a successful return to the ring at the Rumble on the Hill last Saturday night at Glenville State College in Glenville, W.Va.
Pettaway (12-1, 8 KOs) won a unanimous decision over Joseph Rabotte of Knoxville, Tenn., in their six-round bout. Two judges scored it 60-54 and one 59-55 for Pettaway.
At the end of the fight, Rabotte made a quick exit and received a 60-day suspension.
Pettaway last fought on March 17, 2012, at Madison Square Garden in New York. He was on a St. Patrick's Day card and unbeaten Magomed Abdusalamov stopped Pettaway in the fourth round of their scheduled 10-rounder. Abdusalamov in 4-0 since then and all have been by TKO.
Pettaway had been scheduled to fight Bobby Thomas Jr. of Oak Hill, W.Va., in April in Beckley, but the bout got postponed after Thomas suffered a training injury.
304 Boxing Academy fighters will be in action Saturday at a show at the Chesapeake Community Center. Bell time is 7 p.m. Admission is a $10 donation at the door.
New pro shop set to open at Colonial Lanes

Hobbs, Malone stage high-scoring match
HUNTINGTON -- Sam Hobbs and Kevin Malone rolled honor scores Thursday night in the Monday Men's League roll-off at Strike Zone.
Hobbs shot a perfect game. He added games of 226 and 207 with the 300 for a 733 series. The 300 is the ninth of his career. Hobbs and his teammates won the roll-off.
Malone rolled 11 strikes in a row for a 290. He added a 269 and 240 for a 799 series. He was competing against Hobbs.
Turner bowls big series in Ceredo mixed league
HUNTINGTON -- Terry Turner II rolled two honor scores in the Ceredo Friday Night Mixed League. Turner had a perfect game and 800 series. The right-hander shot 300, 279 and 235 for an 814 series.
Fite stays hot, rolls another perfect game
HUNTINGTON -- Brian Fite rolled a perfect game in the Monday Bombers League at Colonial Lanes. Fite's 300 and a 247 helped him to a 760 series.
