Fairland tops River Valley, 9-4

BIDWELL, Ohio -- Fairland defeated River Valley, 9-4, in an Ohio Valley Conference baseball game Monday.

Matt Aliff pitched six innings for the win and Dylan Murphy drove in three runs for Fairland (8-6, 6-1 OVC).

Aliff also had two hits with a double and an RBI. Brandon Burcham was 2-for-4 and drove in two. Kyle Raines was 2-for-4 with an RBI. The Dragons play again Tuesday at Oak Hill.

HUNTINGTON HIGH 5, LAWRENCE CO. 4: Mark Shaver had game-tying and game-winning hits in a nine-inning victory for the Highlanders.

Shaver was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Joey Mundy was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple. Stephen Holland and Andrew Zban both added two hits.

Clark Rice and Brock Turner both had two hits for the Bulldogs (14-4). The Highlanders (16-6) play again Tuesday at South Charleston.
