Curry dominates Pro Day
HUNTINGTON -- Maybe it was the home locker room ... or the turf ... or just the sight of the uneven goalposts in the north end zone.
Whatever it was, Vinny Curry apparently liked being back in the friendly confines of Joan C. Edwards Stadium.
Three weeks after the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, one of Marshall's favorite sons was in the Huntington arena for the Thundering Herd's Pro Day. And similar to his career in that place, he performed on a high level.
Results unofficial, but the 6-foot-3, 266-pound defensive end ran a 4.64-second 40-yard dash, repped 225 pounds 28 times and had a 35-inch vertical leap on Wednesday.
Each was an improvement over his Combine performance (4.98 40, no bench, 32-inch vert).
"Everybody knew how rattled I was at the Combine," Curry said. "I was kind of out of my comfort zone a little bit. But, you know, I'm a competitor so to come here and chop a 4.9 40 down to a 4.64 and a 4.69, it's unbelievable.
"I knew I was faster than that when I ran at the Combine. But, you know, you have your doubters out there. But I proved them wrong. ... It's definitely been a great day."
