Hayes leads HHS rout over Riverside

QUINCY, W.Va. -- Toquan Hayes scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Huntington High boys basketball team past Riverside, 71-36, on Friday.

Tyqwan Sayles added 14 points and Shaquan Miller 12 for the Highlanders (6-7).

Huntington High, thanks to a 16-0 run, opened an 18-4 after one period and dominated the rest of the game.

Marcus Reed finished with 12 points to pace the Warriors.

Huntington High's next game is Tuesday at home against Nitro.

CAPITAL 71, CABELL MIDLAND 67: The Cougars lit it up for 26 points in the second quarter to go ahead by 18 at halftime.

Capital (9-6) was led by Earl Reed's 29 points.

Dustin Scarberry had 25 points for the Knights (2-13). Stephen Matthews scored 18.

SPRING VALLEY 68, NITRO 56: The Timberwolves (5-10) got double-doubles from Eli Parker and Elijah Wellman and beat the Wildcats.

Parker had 25 points and 14 rebounds and Wellman finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Spring Valley led the entire game.

Angelo Sirianni paced Nitro with 16 points.

Spring Valley's next game is Thursday at home against South Charleston.

OHIO VALLEY 50, HANNAN 49: Chance Burleson drove for the winning basket at the buzzer. Hannan (3-12) had the lead on Brad Fannin's 3-point field goal with about eight seconds remaining.

Pete Carman led Ohio Valley with 21 points.

Fannin's 16 points led Hannan. Tyler Jenkins scored 14 and Paul Holley added 11.

Jace Miller added 12 points and Kyle Estep 11. Calvary Baptist's next game is Tuesday at home against Wood County Christian.

Courtney Stiltner had six points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Hannah King's eight points led the Huskies (9-8).

TUG VALLEY 47, MINGO CENTRAL 43: Elizabeth Evans (16) and Adreana Vance (11) scored more than half of Tug Valley's points in a Thursday victory.

Evans also had six rebounds, five assists and six steals for the Panthers (8-9). Vance had seven rebounds.

Danielle Butcher led Mingo Central (7-10) with 17 points and eight rebounds.
