West Virginia's defense stifled the Marshall last week, limiting the Thundering Herd to 158 yards and one field goal in a 27-3 victory. Marshall's three primary offensive threats were highly limited against WVU. Sophomore RB Darius Marshall finished with 45 yards on 16 carries. Darius Marshall did pick up 203 yards on four kickoff returns. Senior WR Darius Passmore was held under 100 yards receiving for the first time this season with just 39. Junior TE Cody Slate finished the day with 40 receiving yards on three catches. Freshman QB Mark Cann was 15-of-36 passing for 119 yards and threw an interception. Defensively, redshirt freshman DB DeQuan Bembry led the way with eight tackles and an interception.

The Green Wave won its second straight game, 34-27 over SMU. Junior RB Andre Anderson posted his second straight 100-yard game on the ground, carrying 36 times for a career-high 219 yards, along with one touchdown. Sophomore QB Kevin Moore completed 19-of-24 passes for 254 yards and his first career three touchdown game. The Tulane defense entered the game leading the NCAA in sacks per game and senior DE Reggie Scott and senior LB Evan Lee both added one sack against SMU.

SMU true freshman QB Bo Levi Mitchell threw three touchdowns in a loss at Tulane. He completed 21 of 44 passes for 256 yards with two interceptions. Junior WR Emmanuel Sanders and sophomore WR Aldrick Robinson both topped the 100-yard receiving mark. The UCF Knights dropped their Conference USA opener at UTEP, 58-13. True freshman Rob Calabrese made his first start at QB and was 13-of-31 for 167 yards and a touchdown, while rushing 11 times for 86 yards. That marked the third time in four games UCF's quarterback led the team in rushing. Senior CB Joe Burnett's fourth quarter interception was the 13th of his career.
UTEP (1-3) at Southern Miss (2-2)

UTEP posted a 58-13 win over UCF last week. Sophomore QB Trevor Vittatoe completed 18 of-32 passes for 263 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore WR Kris Adams finished with four catches for 128 yards. For the second straight week, the Miners returned a fumble for a touchdown, as senior DB Josh Ferguson scored the game's first touchdown on a 45-yard return. The Golden Eagles were last week after a loss at Marshall on Sept. 20, 34-27. The loss was just the 11th that Southern Miss has suffered at home in league play since the inception of Conference USA in 1996.

A showdown in the C-USA West Division between Rice with a 2-0 league record and Tulsa at 1-0. Rice hammered North Texas last week, 77-20. Senior QB Chase Clement and senior WR Jarett Dillard became the NCAA's all-time leading duo in passing touchdowns with 41. Clement was 22-of-28 for 298 yards and five touchdowns through the air, while rushing 10 times for 79 yards and two more scores. Dillard caught eight passes for 114 yards and four touchdowns. Junior K Clark Fangmeier set a C-USA record with 11 extra points. Tulsa scored a 62-35 win against Central Arkansas. Senior QB David Johnson was 18-of-22 for 286 yards and four touchdowns. Senior WR Brennan Marion had scoring receptions of 51 and 26 yards and six receptions for 132 yards.Senior RB Tarrion Adams carried 13 times for 120 yards.
