Buffalo's Good named gamer
Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and the Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week's "Gridiron Gamer of the Week" award to Corey Good of Buffalo High School.
The Buffalo Bisons are looking to continue the success they had in previous years during the upcoming 2008 football season. The Bisons are coming off a 2007 playoff run, and hope to get back there in November.
Corey Good, who last year was a receiver for the Bisons, was moved to quarterback. His play-making abilities were on display Friday night as Buffalo beat Gilbert 22-6 in the opening game of the year. Corey was involved in all three touchdowns the Bisons scored.
Good returned a punt 60 yards for the first touchdown of the year. He then rushed for another touchdown and threw for the third. He finished with 50 yards on 13 carries. He also was 4-12 with one touchdown in the air.
When asked about his success, Corey said, "They had low expectations going into the game. We didn't know what to expect, but we had a strong defense that came out and played real well for the game and allowed us to start to get comfortable on offense."
Head coach Mike Sawyer said, "Corey is still learning how to play quarterback, and he will only get better as the year goes on. Once our team and play gets consistent, we feel he can make a difference for us."
Corey excels not only on the field, but off the field as well where he carries a 3.2 GPA. When asked about his expectations for the year, Corey said, "We want to make the playoffs again. That is our goal for now."
Look for Corey and other local area high school athletes to be named next week's Gridiron Gamer of the Week sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and the Putnam Herald.
