Fisher misses Mid-Am match play
RIVER HILLS, Wis. -- West Virginia Amateur champion Tim Fisher failed Sunday to make it to match play in the U.S. Mid-Amateur at Milwaukee Country Club.
Fisher, who is from Statts Mills, W.Va., shot an 8-over-par 78 at Milwaukee Country Club for a 36-hole total of 151. The cut for match play came at 147 with 19 players going out today to vie for the final 14 spots.
Richard Berkmeyer earned the No. 1 seed for match play, shooting a 71 at Milwaukee Country Club. Berkmeyer, from St. Louis, had a 2-under 138 total and finished a shot ahead of Tim Mickelson, younger brother of PGA Tour star Phil Mickelson.
Match play begins today with 64 players. The tournament is open to amateurs 25 years old or older.
