Scarver on mark for Thundering Herd
HUNTINGTON — D.D. Scarver wasn’t surprised when he made 10 consecutive foul shots at the end of a Marshall University men’s basketball victory Wednesday night.
Neither was Marshall head coach Tom Herrion.
“It’s free throws,” Scarver said Friday before practice. “I should make them.”
Scarver made all 10 of his foul shots in the final 1:17 for Marshall (4-3) in a 70-67 defeat of Morehead State in Cam Henderson Center. He sank 12 of 13 in the game, increasing his season percentage to 87.5.
Morehead State was pressuring Marshall full-court attempting to catch up, and the Thundering Herd used Dre Kane as the trigger man feeding the basketball in bounds to Scarver. Scarver used his quickness to catch the passes and did what he’s supposed to do, Eagles head coach Sean Woods said.
“I knew he would make them,” Herrion said.
