Marshall hosts Tulane beginning this Thursday
HUNTINGTON -- The Marshall University baseball team hosts Conference USA rival Tulane for its Military Appreciation Weekend beginning Thursday, May 14-16 with each game set to begin at 2:05 p.m. at Appalachian Power Park. Anyone with a valid active Military ID will get into the ballpark free of charge.
The Thundering Herd will wear special camouflage jerseys during Saturday's series finale which will then be auctioned off online beginning at 8:00 a.m. ET on Monday, May 18 with bids starting at $100. The auction will close the following Monday at 8:00 a.m.
Saturday also marks senior day, at which time there will be an alumni cookout for current players and parents as well as former players and parents. Following that event, the program will recognize all five of its seniors for their achievements and dedication to Marshall baseball. Those seniors include Andrew Blain, Brandon Casamassima, Nate Lape, Brian Mooney and Adam Yeager. The ceremony will be highlighted by a video board tribute to the seniors.
Marco and the Marshall cheerleading squad will also be in attendance throughout the weekend.
Big Green golf outing
The Beckley Athletic Club of Marshall University (BAC-MU) has announced that it will be holding its 19th Annual Golf Tournament on June 22.
The four-man scramble will be held at the Grandview Country Club. All proceeds from the tournament benefit the Big Green Scholarship Foundation.
Registration will take place from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. with the tournament starting up at noon. Subway and Little General will provide lunch prior to the start with a dinner taking place following play.
Door prizes and hole prizes will be awarded along with prizes for the top three teams. The entry fee is $125 per golfer.
Golfers may form their own foursomes while singles may send in their registration and be placed in a competitive group.

The Marshall University ticket office has announced the start of sales for 2009 football season tickets.
Season ticket prices are unchanged from the 2008 season. Prices begin at just $88 for endzone tickets with sideline tickets beginning at $149. Chair-back seats are also available for sale and require and donation to the Big Green Scholarship Foundation.
The 2009 schedule features six home games, including two non-conference games against Southern Illinois and former Mid-American Conference rival Bowling Green in September. The Herd will open up its Conference USA schedule against defending champion East Carolina on Oct. 3 before playing host to UAB three weeks later. Mid-November games against Southern Miss and SMU wrap up the schedule.
