HHS wrestlers win matches in Parkersburg
PARKERSBURG -- Huntington High, ranked No. 1 in Class AAA in wrestling in West Virginia, defeated Wheeling Park and host Parkersburg in a tri-match Saturday at Parkersburg Memorial Fieldhouse.
The Highlanders beat Wheeling Park, 50-14, and the No. 5 Big Reds, 43-24.
For Huntington, Logan Grass (113), Jordan Allen (120), Billy Waldeck (138) and Justin Arthur (145) each went 2-0. Nigale Cabell returned to action and went 2-0 at heavyweight.
Arthur scored an 8-0 win over Wheeling Park's Dylan Taylor. Taylor was runner-up in the state last year at 126.
Huntington High returns to action this weekend in the Powerade Christmas Tournament at Canon-McMillian High School in Canonsburg, Pa. The tournament has 46 teams entered including national power Blair Academy. Riley, ranked No. 2 in West Virginia, is the other Mountain State team in the field.
Wiseman, Allen roll 300 games at Colonial
HUNTINGTON -- Jeff Wiseman and David Allen rolled perfect games Thursday night in the Roger Workman Memorial Trio League at Colonial Lanes.
Wiseman, with an injured finger on his bowling hand, fired his 300 in the second game. He closed with a 255 for a 993 for four.
Allen shot his 300 in the third game and finished the night with a 245 for a 1,006 set.
