Johnson has 28 to power St. Joe past Mill Creek

ATLANTA -- Huntington St. Joe defeated Mill Creek (Ga.), 65-48, Friday on Day 2 in the Peach State Holiday Invitational.

Mychael Johnson led the Irish (7-0) with 28 points. Rachel Lee added 11 and nine rebounds and Mychelle Johnson 10 points. Asia Petitte topped St. Joe in rebounds with 11.

Nadiya Miller paced the Lady Hawks (8-5) with 16 points.

St. Joe is 2-0 in the White Division. The tournament features 32 teams with four eight-team brackets.

St. Joe will meet Webb School of Knoxville on Saturday at 2:15 p.m.

The Irish edged Southwest Atlanta Christian, 56-55, in its first game Thursday.

IRONTON 55, SOUTHWEST MIAMI 38: Ironton (7-3) won the championship of the Hialeah Gardens High School Christmas Tournament on Friday in Miami.

Lexie Barrier led the Lady Tigers with 15 points.

WOODROW WILSON 83, HUNTINGTON HIGH 63: Andrew Johnson connected for 29 points to help the Flying Eagles hand the Highlanders (4-1) their first loss.

Donte Nabors added 17 points and Nick Deems and Chase Hancock 12 each to make the home opener for Woodrow Wilson a success.

Arick Nicks past Huntington with 21 points and 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.

Huntington is back in action next Friday at home against Ripley.

Ironton (6-1) plays Coral Reef from Miami for fifth place at 1:30 p.m., Saturday.

WAHAMA 83, HANNAN 45: The White Falcons outscored the Wildcats (2-6) 40-19 in the first half and dominated their Mason County rival from there.

Hunter Bradley led Wahama with 18 points. Trenton Gibbs added 17, Jacob Ortiz 13 and Wyatt Zuspan 10.

Paul Holley pace Hannan with 14 points and Ty Paige chipped in with 13.

Lincoln County (4-3) has won four in a row. The Panthers will play Doddridge County in the title game Saturday. Doddridge beat host Ritchie County in the other first-round game.
