Harbaughs have coached several games against Thundering Herd
HUNTINGTON -- Jack Harbaugh and his sons, opposing Super Bowl XLVII coaches John (Baltimore Ravens) and Jim (San Francisco 49ers), had several encounters with Marshall Thundering Herd teams through the years.
Jack Harbaugh faced Marshall several times as a coach.
Morehead State assistant (1967): Opened the season with a 30-6 win at Marshall.
Bowling Green assistant (1968-70): Bowling Green beat Marshall, 54-28, in 1968; Marshall won at home against the Falcons, 21-16, in 1969; Bowling Green beat Marshall, 26-24 in 1970.
Western Michigan head coach (1982-86): The Broncos beat the Herd, 34-0, in 1982; and 42-7 in 1984.
Western Kentucky head coach (1989-2002): Marshall beat the Hilltoppers, 37-3, during its undefeated NCAA Division I-AA championship season.
John Harbaugh was a Miami (Ohio) defensive back in 1980: Miami (Ohio) beat Marshall, 34-6.
Western Michigan assistant coach (1984-87): The Broncos beat the Herd, 42-7, in 1984.
Morehead State assistant coach (1988): Marshall beat the Eagles, 30-17.
Jim Harbaugh was a Western Kentucky assistant coach in 1996 when Marshall beat the Hilltoppers, 37-3.
